Kep, locally referred to as Krong Kaeb (Kep Town), is the southern coastal Cambodian town half an hour from the nearest big town, Kampot. Once a getaway for the rich and famous, including royalty, Kep had become a bit of a ghost town, with formerly luxurious mansions up the soft hills overlooking the ocean deserted. Increasingly however, Kep is emerging as the new destination for visitors seeking a calm, relaxing beach town vibe.
